Our Surgeons Named “Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence”

    Drs. Jaime Ponce, Steven Paynter and Richard Fromm along with Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, GA and Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, TN are excited to announce that have been designated a “Center of Excellence” by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.

    This designation is given only to Centers that perform Weight Loss Surgery and have a commitment to excellence in patient care. A Committee of nationally recognized and experienced bariatric surgeons reviews specific information after a site visit, and only will approve centers that have: continuous staff education, adequate high volume of cases, work with an institution and participate in the decision-making process, have full range of consultative services, full line of bariatric equipment and furniture, appropriate radiology equipment, spend significant portion of practice in bariatric surgery, utilize clinical pathways, have physician extenders and staff with experience, offer supervised support groups, and document long-term patient follow-up.
