     Dr. Jaime Ponce and his partners have already performed close to 2000 Gastric Band procedures (updated October 2007). In fact, Dr. Ponce was one of just 20 surgeons in the country who participated in the last FDA clinical trial before the approval of the LAP-BAND® System, one of 12 surgeons that participated in the Swedish Gastric Band FDA clinical study, the first surgeon in the Country to implant the new Realize™ Gastric Band for the treatment of morbidly obese patients in the United States. Dr. Ponce has served as an Advisor for the main Bariatric companies in the U.S., and has provided strategic and editorial direction in the appropriate use of the adjustable gastric banding. He is one of the surgeons authorized for training and proctor other surgeons in the United States with the use of the gastric band.
